Close to 25,000 Left Without Power in South-East Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Severe Weather Systems
Around twenty-five thousand residences in southeastern Queensland were left experiencing outages on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms impacted the region, producing powerful gusts topping 109km/h.
Substantial Hailstones and Extensive Damage
Homeowners witnessed substantial frozen pellets as large as 7cm in particular locations. Meteorological experts verified that multiple regions across the state had been hit with large hailstones.

Utility workers were focused on reestablishing electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams deployed to handle the numerous electricity disruptions.
Victorian Climate Difficulties
Simultaneously, nearly one thousand households in the southern state also experienced electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area recorded its heaviest rainfall in a year and a half.
State Emergency Services received over five hundred requests for assistance across the state, mostly for property damage but also for fallen timber and flooding.

At one point on yesterday, in excess of twenty-eight thousand electricity consumers in Victoria were lacking electricity.
Weather Forecast
Damp conditions were expected to linger along significant areas of eastern Queensland this week as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.
Tuesday was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with continued thunderstorm potential anticipated across multiple regions of both areas.
Health Warning
Public health experts alerted that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This warning comes after past events where similar conditions led to significant health impacts in the region.
